The School of Beauty, Goodness and Truth

The great development of technical civilization in XXI century has made that the society fascinated with it often loses the basic human values, which seem to be the fundamental values of the civilization of modern Europe. This process is particularly dynamic among young people to whom information technology is the only source of knowledge about the world they live in. Formal and ideological schematize, vulgarity of language, brutality of media broadcasting lead to spiritual, intellectual and emotional poorness among teenagers. This phenomenon creates the society of future far from culture heritage of former generation.

To support all educational organizations and cultural institution in their activities we have prepared the project called "The School of Beauty, Goodness and Truth". This project was established on the base of elementary truths of Mediterranean civilization, which are driven from the rules of Plato’s idealism enhanced by Christian axioms. They are the ethic, esthetic and legal foundation of modern Europe system. So that, to face the fact of promoting the mass culture and moral relativism the crucial role of each school seems to be restoring these values as general rules in the educational process.

The main aims of the project:

• to create moral behaviours according to the values system of modern civilization;
• to create proper understanding of patriotism and openness towards cultural diversity;
• to promote the knowledge about cultural heritage of Europe, country and region and their mutual interference;
• to make our youth sensitive and aware of culture;
• to shape the attitudes of culture agent.

Implementation of the project ideas will help to rebuild the coherent system of ethic, esthetic and cognitive values, which is the fundamental base for intellectual, emotional and social development of the young generation. In our work we would like to pay special attention for shaping the feelings of awareness and sensitivity among the students. This all let the students be more creative and it may be the alternative method of prophylaxis of pathological behaviour for teenagers.

"The School of Beauty, Goodness and Truth" is the program of Regional In-Service Teacher Training Centre Metis in Katowice in which framework we will realize since the 1st of January 2007 project under the same name. Our conferences, workshops, seminaries, lectures and other artistic events are all of the same signatory.

"The School of Beauty, Goodness and Truth" is deeply situated in Hellenic and Christian culture of our continent and grows out of the belief of precisely defined duties of schools.

We would like the beauty, goodness and truth to be present at our schools as we are absolutely sure these values are as important as the formal aims of education.
